National Sports Awards :Rohit Sharma awarded by prestigious khel ratna with V.phogat ,Mariyappan ,Manika and Rani Rampal

 


Cricketer Rohit Sharma honoured by Rajiv Gandhi khel Ratna Award, with Asian games gold medalist Vinesh Phogat , Table tennis champion Manika Batra , Mariyappan Thangavelu was recommended for his gold Medal in the 2016 Rio Paralympic and Rani Rampal for hockey were all the five athletics , Applaud by Khel Ratna 2020.

 The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna officially known as Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna awards in sports and games,is the highest sporting honour of the Republic of India .This award function sponsored by Govt. Of India .Due to The Covid-19 pandemic ,in  the first time of award history ,the awards function held on virtually on August 29 instead of  the Rashtrapati Bhawan  this year.

Rohit Sharma (the India's  limited overs vice-captain ) honoured with The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award ,India's highest civilian award for contributions to sports. Rohit sharma is the only Cricketer to be recommended by the committee for this year's award ,is the only the fourth Cricketer who joined Sachin Tendulkar (1998), MS.Dhoni (2007) and the Captain Virat kohli (2018)  in the Elite List.

Rohit's khel Ratna award won came on the back ,for his remarkable and staggering performance in past years with the bat .Rohit had , fascinating year in the year 2019, where he became the only batsman ever to hit Five Centuries  at a single edition of  an ODI world cup.Hitman scored 556  runs at an average of 92.67 in five test ,All while opening the batting for the first in test cricket .He ,had outstanding white ball run in the year 2019,he scored 1490 odi runs at 57.30  including the unprecedented feat of centuries in World Cup.

- To be recognised  for anything you do for your country is a big motivating factor and I will always  strive to being happiness and say our country - Rohit Sharma on winning Khel Ratna.


 The sports ministry has been also finalized the names of Para- athlete Mariyappan Thangavelu ,was recommended for his Gold Medel in the 2016 Paralympic ,won in the T42 high jump category.


Table tennis champion Manika Batra ,had a brilliant run in the year 2018 .She won  Gold Medel in  Commonwealth Games and Asian Games bronze in the women's singles. 


on the other hand ,Rani Rampal became only third Indian hockey player after  Dhanraj Pillay and Sardar Singh to honour by the khel Ratna . Wrestler Vinesh Phogat also received khel Ratna ,for bringing Laurels for the country . Phogat become first woman wrestler to win an Asian games gold medal in 2018.

Meanwhile ,Ishant Sharma (India men's fast bowler) and Deepti Sharma (women's allrounder) with 25 sports person were also finalized for the Arjuna Award and  five coaches Received the Dronacharya Award on August 29.


The National Sports day in India's is celebrated on 29th August ,on the birth anniversary of hockey legend  Major Dhyan Chand. The hockey player who  won Gold medals  in Olympic for India in the year  1928,1932 and 1936 . He scored 570 goals in his outstanding career.
